Senioritis: It Happens

Senioritis: It Happens

By: Marissa Mercurio

Towards the end of the school year, the term, “Senioritis”, has been getting thrown around plenty. What does this term actually mean? Well, this is meant to describe the time around the end high school or college where students experience an extreme decline in motivation and happines towards school. This can be explained in lowered GPA, bad attendance, and changing of priorities. This is a shared experience by the majority of students, but why is it so common? Senioritis is a form of burnout, which makes sense. Seniors have already been in school for many years so getting tired of working on academics is nearly inevitable. I believe it most commonly happens at the end of the year because students just stop caring, want to be done, and move on with their lives. If you are about to graduate, and you are feeling foggy and unmotivated, don’t worry because you are far from alone. You will make it through this year, and try to maintain what you need to get up. You got this!
